I began with The League in January 2015 during what would become a highly transitional period in the association’s history. During the eighteen months that followed, four other long time employees retired. It seemed like overnight I went from being one of the most junior staff members to the most senior – figuratively and chronologically. As someone who relishes change, it’s been an exciting and constructive time.
I’m a relative newcomer to Springfield. I grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast, graduated from the University of Houston with a BS in Finance, and then moved to southern California where I worked 10 years in the software industry before opening my own real estate firm. We all know what happened in 2008 and that led me to Illinois to be close to family. I completed a MA in Environmental Studies at UIS in 2013 and have been involved with local sustainability projects during my eight years in Springfield. My two daughters and grandson have joined me in Springfield.
Working in the private sector and being a business owner instilled a sense of practicality, drive, and customer service that I continue to draw upon. I enjoy the kind of collaboration at The League which pushes me to further develop my position as well as improve The League’s overall business and professional standing.
